The Move of God - Fathers (notes)

The Move of God - Fathers

Father’s Day

  • Is symbolic of the move of God.
  • Revival starts when men become the men they were destined to be.

Malachi 4

See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.

The Nation

That has no fathers to influence the next generation will be cursed. Let me give you some research studies of the effect fathers have on society.

But first let’s look at the types of fathers that exist.

  • Biological fathers
  • Spiritual fathers

An Overwhelming Majority of Americans agree that the fathers play an important and irreplaceable role in the lives of children.
89% agree that it is important for children to live in a home with both their mother and father.

92%

  • Agree that fathers make a unique contribution to their children’s lives.
  • Almost eight out of ten give most fathers credit for doing a good job of providing for and protecting their families. 77% for caring enough about their children’s welfare. 89% of fathers are satisfied with themselves as fathers. 94% of fathers are satisfied with their ability to talk to their children.

95 % of fathers are satisfied with their relationship with their children.

Despite All The Positive attitudes expressed by respondents, the state of fathering in America is decidedly mixed.

  • 7 out of 10 people surveyed agree that the physical absence of fathers from home is the most significant family or social problem facing America.

64% Believe

  • That most fathers have a good picture of what it takes to be a good father.
  • Only half give most fathers credit for knowing what is going on in their children’s lives.
  • 97% believe that fathers need to be more involved in their children’s education.

Fatherlessness

  • Affects 25,000,000 children.
  • According to 72% of the US population. Fatherlessness is the most significant family or social problem facing America.
  • An estimated 23.6 million (32.3%) children live absent of their biological father.

Of Students In Grades

  • 1 through 12, 39% (17.7 million) live in homes absent their biological fathers.
  • A recent Gallup Youth Survey found among US teens: 33 % live away from their father and 43% of urban teens live away from their father.

As Much As We Need

  • Biological fathers to be at home and help raise up the next generation we also need spiritual fathers.
  • Jesus had a Spiritual Father. Matt. 6:9
  • The ungodly have a spiritual father. John 8:44
  • The church needs them I Cor. 4:15 Philippians 2:22

My Goal

  • Is to be a spiritual father to my children and to those I touch in this fellowship.
  • Your goal should be to be a spiritual father at home first and then to anyone who is in need of a spiritual father in the Body of Christ.
