A Dedicated Life - A Life Well Lived & More (notes)

A Dedicated Life - A Life Well Lived & More

In The Last Chapters of Genesis we find the results of a life well lived. As we close this chapter in our study in God’s Word there is more to a life well lived.

Joseph

  • Is informed threw himself upon his father and wept over him and kissed him.
  • Orders the physicians in his service to embalm his father Israel. It took 40 days to embalm Jacob.

God’s Love

  • Is demonstrated through Joseph’s love for his family and his father.
  • Is seen in Joseph, even though Jacob is 147 years old; who shows the love in his response to the death of his daddy.

Joseph

  • Gets the blessing of Pharaoh to bury his father.
  • Goes to bury his father and pharaoh’s officials go with him with all his family. Chariots and horsemen went with Joseph to land where Abraham is buried.

When They Get To the burial place Joseph and everyone observe a seven day mourning period.

They bury Jacob in a grave that Abraham had bought.

After the burial Joseph returns to Egypt.

The Character Of Joseph is now shown in how he treats his brothers.

  1. They ask Joseph to forgive them
  2. Joseph weeps
  3. His brothers bow down before him but Joseph reassures them and forgives them.

The Great Revelation In the life of Joseph is summed up in this text: Gen. 50:19

“Don’t be afraid. AM I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.”

Joseph Knew God and His ways and he knew that God had already vindicated him but his brothers didn’t. They are a type of carnal unbelieving Christians and Joseph is type of a spiritual man.

His Dreams Were

  • Were God given and by now understood that those dreams simply launched Joseph into his divine destiny.
  • Though it meant misunderstanding by the ones he loved the most, being sold into slavery and put in prison for a crime that he did not commit.
  • Joseph learned that the favor of God makes all the difference in a bad situation.

All These Principles Are found in the life of Joseph.

Joseph is a case study in what God will do with a life dedicated to God’s purpose. Endurance and character development are seen in Joseph.
