Proverbs 14 - The Fear of The Lord (notes)

Proverbs 14 - The Fear of The Lord

Jesus Said:

  • Women have a big role to play in the home.
  • A wise woman builds her house.
  • The foolish woman tears down her house.

When A Person:

  • Fears the Lord there are many benefits that accompany that type of attitude.
  • Speaks foolishly, calamity is waiting for them.
  • Speaks with wisdom, that wisdom will be like a shield to them.

In Every Move of God

  • Things get messy.
  • But this is what demonstrates harvest. No work, no harvest, no harvest no mess. Churches get dirty when there are many people and church sometimes gets messy when the harvest comes in. I prefer cleaning up messes because the harvest is coming in that tidiness without a move of God.

Proverbs 14:4

We Release what we are most aware of. It should be from glory to glory, from strength to strength. The glory of God came upon the early believers on Pentecost and they went out and told people who Jesus was. Signs and wonders accompanied their message and they will accompany our message also.

Proverbs 14:5

Our words are very important to God. When we speak positive, faith filled, encouraging, kind and loving words to others God will grant us favor even with our enemies. People will bless us when we speak with grace. Our mouths can literally be a fountain of life to others.

Two Types of People:

  1. Mockers: Will never find wisdom.
  2. Discerning: Knowledge comes easily to.

Proverbs 14:6

Who To Stay Away From:

  • Foolish men for they never speak words of wisdom.

Proverbs 14:7

  • Don’t hang out with fools.

The Wisdom of:

  • The discerning keeps life on track.
  • The foolishness of fools lands them in a ditch.

Proverbs 14:8

Principles

  • There is nothing quite as powerful as a life of favor. Joseph is a prime example of this principle. He found favor in good times and in bad, in times of adversity and in times of prosperity. When he was in a good place and when in a bad one.
  • Favor brought exaltation to Joseph.
  • A moral life is a favored Life.

Proverbs 14:9

When Hard Times

Hit people, this is when they need our friendship not our criticism. Like Job. When he went through hard times, that is when he needed true friendship. So when they are blessed we will enjoy their party.

Principle

There is nothing more devastating than a careless life while on the other hand there is nothing more pleasing to God than living a holy life.

Proverbs 14:11

Man Makes His Own Way to God (religion) but Jesus is the only true way to God all other ways lead to eternal death.

Proverbs 14:12

When People Don’t Have Real joy, they put up a fake front but inside they are hurting.

Proverbs 14:13

Repentance means to change our way of thinking. The word says; repent from dead works… faith towards God. Faith is both the crown and enabler of repentance.

To Fear God Means:

I believe what He says.

I trust Him.

Faith is the mirror of the heart that reflects the realities of the unseen world-the actual substance of His Kingdom.

Proverbs 14:14

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear

If I am prudent (discern between what is right or wrong) I will not be gullible but will judge things with the Word of God.

Proverbs 14:15

Fearing God will keep me away from sin while a person who does not fear God does not have self control.

Proverbs 14:17
