Revelation 3 - Love and Thanksgiving

The Lord Jesus Christ

Desires to transform our church into a living example of the Kingdom of God in the world today.
Gives advice to the church at Philadelphia that he has the key of David. This implies that worship is a vital part of being a church after the heart of God.

The Philadelphia Church

Is the church of brotherly love. Jesus says that only God can open doors and no man can close the door that God opens. God had opened a door of ministry for this church and only God can close it. It is the same for us. On the other hand God closes doors that no man can open and if God closes a door, let’s not break it down we will only suffer for our rebellion.
Was a church that had lost its influence and strength and only Jesus could return it to its former power.

The Devil & The Church

Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it…”
The Devil always tries to get into the church. He does it with leaders who allow the people of God to put them into an unhealthy place. Pastors need to stay close to Jesus so that they never allow the church to elevate them to a place that is unhealthy.

How Satan Enters The Church:

When a leader thinks he is above God’s Law and thinks he can not be rebuked, removed or replaced.

Love - Rev. 3

10 'You have kept My command to put up with anything that happens. So I will keep you from the time of suffering that is going to come to the whole world. It will test those who live on the earth.'
When the church walks in love Jesus promises to keep that church from the time of suffering that will hit the world.

The Blessing

Of holding on to Jesus. No one will be able to take away our crown.
Of overcoming. Jesus will make us pillars in the temple of God, we will always be in God’s presence. He will write the name of God on them and the name of the city of God on them. In Rome when someone received high national honor their names were engraved in public places on stone.

Views On The 7 Churches

Every church is a period in church history.
Jesus addressing people in the seven churches are people in every church in history.
Since the church is individual people Jesus is speaking to us as individuals and as a corporate group. Yes, Jesus mentions false teaching, false leaders in that time in history in Asia Minor but if you look at the church today there are similarities in the church today.

The Admonitions

That were given in the first century apply to the church today. Jesus is the head of the church and when He makes a statement, or a rebuke or a compliment to a church almost 2,000 years ago it can apply to the church today.

The Church of Laodicea

Jesus is revealed as a faithful witness and the ruler of God’s creation. Jesus knows what the church is doing, He is all knowing. This church was lukewarm, neither cold nor hot and that makes God sick.
If there is anything that gets to God it is when His people think they don’t need God, they are rich, powerful, popular, in, cool, etc.
When a believer (who is part of the church) gets to this point Jesus says, “you don’t realize how pitiful and miserable you have become. You are poor, blind and naked.

Jesus Recommends We

Buy gold tried by fire. Jesus is pure gold, nothing is worth more than Him. When I come to Jesus and ask for help, I let Him know that I can not make it on my own, I get Him. Sometimes a church becomes successful and it takes its eyes off what is really important. Then you will be rich.
Buy from Him white clothes to wear. This is when I clothe myself with His righteousness. It is not good works that justifies us but the blood of Jesus.
Buy from Him healing lotion to put on your eyes to see.

We Are Most Vulnerable when we are most blessed. When we are in need we tend to put our trust in the Lord. This is why revivals usually start in very needy places with very needy people. The more need there is, the greater possibility for God to work. Example of Israel in Egypt. They called on God in their time of need and God heard.

The key: We must always be needy of Him. We must always realize how impossible life is without Jesus and call on Him and He will help us, regardless of how much money we have in the bank, or how popular we are or how powerful we think we are.

Sometimes The Church becomes like the church in Laodicea, rich (in our eyes but poor in God’s), powerful, self indulgent and popular. This is when we need Jesus the most. This is when we are most vulnerable. This is when we are ready for a fall.

The best medicine for this sickness is remembrance and thanksgiving. If we become powerful, rich and popular remember from where God has raised us up from and be thankful for the blessings of the Lord.

Revelation Transforms The Church - Revelation 2-3

The Lord Jesus Christ

Desires to transform our church into a living example of Jesus Christ in this community. Just as we talked about the transformation of the believer into the image of Jesus from glory to glory, so is Jesus coming for a glorious church free from spots, wrinkles or any other disfigurement a Church holy and perfect.

Ephesians 5:25-27

What does a Transformed church look like?

It looks like Jesus.
It acts like Jesus.
It is sacrificial like Jesus was.
It is a servant church like Jesus.

The Word of God Was Given By Inspiration

2 Timothy 3 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the faith and correcting error, for re-setting the direction of a man’s life and training him in good living. The scriptures are the comprehensive equipment of the man of God and fit him fully for all branches of his work.

Keys To Revelation

Revelation is never something that is not found in scripture but something already in scripture. Revelation corrects erroneous concepts about God in every generation. In every generation satan steals the Word so God sends revival and in that outpouring the spirit of wisdom and revelation comes on the people of God to correct what the church has lost.
Revelation also equips the church to reach its generation.

Keys

People in any given period of time can also miss the truth God has for that time like the Jewish leaders in the time of Jesus Christ. JESUS was God, the greatest figure to ever walk the earth with the most powerful teachings ever spoken by anyone.

The World longs to see Jesus in us. We need to look like Jesus if we are going to win the lost and change the world. We will be transformed into His image as we behold in the Word the Glory of the Lord. As we are transformed by the renewing of our thinking the church is transformed by the teaching of the Word God.

Principles in Rev. 2

The loveless church must return to her first love.
The persecuted church must endure.
The over tolerant church must not put up with evil but overcome evil with good.
The compromised church must repent and turn back to pure devotion to Jesus Christ and to the pure teaching of the Word of God.

The Seven Churches

To the pastor of the loveless church Jesus is revealed as the one who holds the leaders of the church in His right hand.
To the pastor of the persecuted church Jesus is revealed as the eternal God to look beyond your current circumstances & see your eternal future. Poverty caused by persecution isn’t a sign of the spiritual condition of the church. You are rich, don’t fear, be faithful to the end and Jesus will give you the crown of life.
To the pastor of the over tolerant church Jesus is revealed as the one who has a two edged sword who will correct sin or false teaching in the church. We need the Word to keep us pure and in line doctrinally. If we don’t turn from sin & false teaching God will come to us with His sword to discipline us.
To the pastor of the compromised church Jesus is revealed as the one with fire blazing eyes as the one who sees through everything. The one with brazen feet means He went to hell for us so we don’t have to go to hell.

There Is A Process

In how God communicates with the church. The Lord speaks to the leader of the church, not a prophet or an elder or a mature member of the church.
Write down what you see, both the things which are now, and the things which are to be hereafter. Rev. 1:19

Jesus Promises Something to Every Church

Ephesian church 7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Smyrna church

11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Pergamos Church

17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Church at Thyatira

26-29 To the one who is victorious, who carries out my work to the end, I will give authority over the nations, just as I myself have received authority from my Father, and I will give him the morning star. He shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the potter’s vessels shall be broken to pieces. Let the listener hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.

Conclusion

Personal testimony of Son Life.

Revival is God visiting a place with His power and His might and shattering the forces of evil and spreading His Goodness in that place. Revival is Jesus coming to His church and revealing to His church her condition and then saying I have something much better for you, here it is, take it, embrace it, receive it and run with it and I will show you what I can do when you trust Me, when you allow Me to be the Lord of your life and the head of My church.

The Witness of Jesus Christ is the Message of God

Revelation 1

1-2 This is a Revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him so that he might show his servants what must very soon take place. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, who is the witness of all that he saw - the message of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Keys That Transform

Jesus is the one who is, who was and who is coming.
Jesus is called the faithful witness.
Jesus is the first born from the dead.
Jesus is the ruler of the earthly kings.
Jesus is coming in the clouds.
Jesus is coming to judge the world.
Jesus is the Alpha & Omega.
Jesus is the Son of Man.
Jesus is dressed in God’s glory.

Jesus’ eyes are blazed like fire.

The Keys of death and the grave are in the hands of Jesus Christ because He is the first and the last, the living one. He was dead but now He is alive for ever. The future is ours because we belong to Jesus Christ. The secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven are ours because of Jesus.

As I Spend Time

With Jesus I will see His Glory.
With Him He will touch me and it is the touch of Jesus that changes us into the people He has destined us to be so we can change the world. He conquered hell for us so we can bring heaven to the earth in our daily living. I will be given the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven to bring heaven down to earth.
With Jesus I will start to look like Him.

Jesus Christ came to reveal the Father to the world. When Jesus healed the sick this is the revelation of what God desires to do everyday in the world through us. When Jesus forgave sins He was showing us that God desires to forgive our sins and the sins of the world everyday.

Jesus Said sin is the root cause of all the suffering in the world. He came to remove sin so we could heal all the hurts in the world by the power of the Spirit of God who is in us. He will transform us so we can be transformers in the world.

The Enemy (John 10:10)

Came to steal, kill and destroy: This is what He does everyday.
Jesus came to give us abundant life: This is what we should do every day in the world is bring people the abundance of life that we have to change their lives.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Mark 3:15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:

Jesus Came To Reveal

The Father’s will to us. He came to show us how God feels about sin, sickness, the devil and evil in the world. It is our job to go into the world and remove evil everywhere we go like Jesus did when He was on the earth.

When we do we can change the world we live in, the family, the neighborhood we live in, the city we live in, the nation we live in.

Keys That Transform

When We Are

In Every Move of God the baptism in the Spirit always becomes one of the main characteristics of that move of God.

Jesus Said

That we would be given power after the Holy Spirit came upon us.
The Holy Spirit comes upon the believer and transforms us into the image of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit

Pours into the church the love of God. Jesus said the world would we are his disciples by our love for each other. We need the Spirit’s love so we can love each other and love the lost.
Deposits gifts to the church.

The Mind Gifts

The Word of Knowledge: This is divinely given information about a person, a situation, a sickness or problem that only God could know.
The Word of Wisdom: This is divine wisdom on how to deal with a situation, a person or problem.
Discernment of Spirit: This is the divine ability to know when it is a demonic influence or not in a person’s life.

The Power Gifts

Faith: The supernatural ability to believe.
Healing: Supernatural ability to heal a sickness, illness or physical ailment.
Miracles: a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency

The Speaking Gifts

Tongues: Speaking in a spiritual language unknown to the speaker.
Interpretation of Tongues: The supernatural ability to interpret the tongue.
Prophecy: Speaking a message that encourages, comforts and strengthens the listener.

Without The Spirit

We don’t have access to these powerful gifts that are designed to help us minister to the world, the lost and the church.
The Glory of God something we see throughout the history of man, in the O.T. it was seen on places like a burning bush, the mountain of God, a pillar of fire at night, a cloud in the day, on the tabernacle, on the temple, etc.

In The New Covenant

The glory is one people, Jesus, the disciples on the Day of Pentecost. Paul said your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
In church history the glory of God has appeared as a cloud inside buildings and at night as a ball of fire on top of buildings.
This is why we must value the presence of God in our lives. It comes by the Word. We see the glory of God in the Word of God.

On The Transfiguration on the Mount Jesus was transfigured in front of His disciples. Theologians have debated on why Jesus was transfigured. I believe it was a prophetic act. Jesus was demonstrating the transfiguration of the believer in the future.

The Answer To All The Problems In The World…

Is the church of Jesus Christ because we have the mind of Christ. We have the thoughts of God. All the creativity of Heaven is for the church to change the world.
If the world is in a mess we can clean it up. If our life is in trouble Jesus is the answer. If our family has a problem we have the solution.

Transformation Takes Time

But it does not have to take a long time, it just takes dedication, presenting our passions, desires, and ambitions to God.
It takes a new attitude.
It takes a new mind set or way of thinking.
The Word of God gives us a new attitude, new though patterns and new passions.

How Transformation Happens

We behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord with unveiled face.
Are constantly being transfigured into His very own image.
How? In ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another.

Explanation

The glory of God comes upon us through the Word of God. The glory of God is the presence of God.
In the O.T. the glory of God came as a result of obedience to the Word of The Lord. It is still the same today.

The Glory of God is manifested as smoke, a pillar of fire, a cloud, mist, fog, or crystals that look like floating jewels. When Moses first saw the glory of God it made a desert bush glow and God told him to take his shoes off because the place was made holy by the presence of God.

The Glory of God

Was seen as a pillar of fire at night and a cloud in the day.
Was seen by Israel on the face of Moses when he came down from Mount Sinai.
Is the presence of God. In past revivals around the world people have seen the glory of God upon buildings, in the Azusa Street revival, in the Indonesian Revival and other revivals. People actually saw the fire of God and the cloud.

The Word of God

Says those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the Holy Spirit.
Talks about the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death. But the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:5-8)

Romans 8:7 [That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot. 8 So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.

There Is A Process in Transformation

It starts with presenting our physical body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. A holy life is a dedicated life to the Lord. The first step in this process is dedication.
Part two is not being conformed to the pattern of this world.
Part three is the renewing of our minds.

Why Do We Need Our minds renewed?

Because we live in a fallen world.
Because the carnal mind is hostile to God & does not submit to God’s Word.
The manner in which people are trained is to think like the world.

Two Types of Wisdom

The wisdom of the world has big sounding words.
The wisdom of the world is man’s wisdom.
Man dies & his wisdom dies with him.

God’s wisdom goes from generation to generation.
God’s wisdom is given by the Holy Spirit.
God’s wisdom is based on faith in Jesus.
God’s wisdom was planned before man was created.

Two Types of Wisdom

The wisdom of God is a secret wisdom, not known to just anyone.
Satan and the forces of evil do not understand the wisdom of God.

Sometimes It takes a generation or so for the church to accept a new way of thinking. This happens through the revelation of the Word of God by the Holy Spirit. In some cases it is too late and the church misses something amazing and looses a generation.

We Can Not Allow ourselves to end up in the situation where we miss the next move of God so we must always allow the Word of God to renew our minds.

A Steady Diet Of God’s Word will renew our minds. This is when we allow the spirit of wisdom and revelation to see more clearly what God has in store for us.

The Word of God:

Is alive and full of power, it is penetrating and sharper than any two edge sword.
Goes into our thought patterns and changes them to His thought patterns. This is how our minds are renewed.
Will not return empty but will accomplish that which God desires in our lives.

God Desires

That we live an abundant life full of the Word of God.
We can have a life that is meaningful and transformational as we allow the Word of God to do its work in us.
We can look like Jesus as we allow this process to work in every area of our life.

What Does Transformation Look Like?

The Greek Word gives us the meaning of the process that a cocoon goes through to become a butterfly. It is something that envelops or surrounds in a protective or comforting way. The Word of God must envelop us as we are transformed into the image of Jesus.

There Is A Process In Transformation

It starts with presenting our physical body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. A holy life is a dedicated life to the Lord. The first step in this process is dedication.
Part two is not being conformed to the pattern of this world.
Part three is the renewing of our minds.

What Renews The Mind:

A new mind set or a new world view.
A new set of values.
The Word of God.

The World has a set of values, a way at looking at the world. The church has a world view, even in the church there are different views such as miracles don’t happen anymore. If you study church history there has been miracles in every generation of the church.

In Every Revival God opens up new ways of thinking for the church, sometimes it is radically different than the current thinking in the church at other times minor adjustments are made. The general thought though is that the church has a hard time accepting new ways of thinking.

Daniel Sees Michael as the guardian angel over the nation of Israel. He will come during the time when Israel is backed up against a wall and will protect the Jewish state. The nation will be saved as a result of this angelic army. If Michael is the general of the armies of Heaven he has an army of angels who will help Israel.

What We Can Learn From What Daniel Saw

Angels have a role to play in our salvation. When a person is saved the angels of God start the process for that person’s family to come to know Jesus too. They will protect our loved ones until they are given an opportunity to know the Lord as their Savior and Lord.

Fallen Angels

· The chief fallen angel is Lucifer the anointed cherub.

· A third of the angels fell and were cast out of Heaven.

· Our warfare is not against flesh and blood but with these fallen angels.

· We have power over the fallen angels.

Revelation

· Lucifer was the most beautiful angel God ever created.

· Lucifer was the anointed cherub that covered the throne of God.

· Lucifer was the worship leader of Heaven.

· Lucifer is the devil, satan, the snake, the accuser of the brethren.

Angels

· Bring messages from God to man.

· Can give understanding and revelation to God’s servants.

· Can strengthen, heal, protect, comfort, encourage and guide us in life.

· Went before the nation of Israel. (Exodus 32 & 33)

· Fight for the people of God. (Exodus 33:2)

Angels & The Gospel

Galatians 1:6-9

· Even if we or an angel from Heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

· Angels are not above the Word of God and if they give us a message that contradicts the Word we are to reject it. Lucifer came to Eve and questioned God’s Word.

What Angels Never Do:

1. Allow Man to worship them.

2. Allow Man to look at them as God.

3. Preach a message that is not in line with the Word of God.

In Every Revival

· Great things happen but then the enemy sows seeds of false doctrine, strife, and discord. People in leadership become stars and they loose their original purpose and calling and start to do things that God never called them to do.

· Some leaders also get off in regards to the ministry of angels.

As God

· Moves in our midst let’s not do anything to stop the flow of the Holy Spirit here and let’s not believe or teach anything that is not in line with the Word of God.

· When it comes to angels, they are here, in our homes, in our cars, our neighborhoods and our nation. Let’s never worship them or overemphasize their role or underestimate their power and ability to help us as we engage the works of the enemy.

Angels have always played a role in the affairs of men. They are servants of God; they are quick like the wind, flames of fire. God has always spoken to man. Through separate revelations each setting forth a portion of the truth. In every revival God reveals a portion of the truth. Daniel 12 - The Last Vision

Daniel’s Vision

He sees Michael the general of the armies of heaven step into human history during a time of intense trouble on the earth.

Daniel 12

Angels have a role to play in the unraveling of history. The spirit world has much to do with what happens in the material world. The spirit world is more powerful than the physical world. The spirit world dictates what happens in the physical world. The supernatural governs the natural. The invisible world is what propels the visible world.

Daniel

Sees Michael as the guardian angel over the nation of Israel. He will come during the time when Israel is backed up against a wall and will protect the Jewish state. The nation will be saved as a result of this angelic army. If Michael is the general of the armies of heaven he has an army of warring angels who will help Israel.

What We Can Learn

Events That Are Predicted in Daniel 12:

4. The resurrections in the last days.

5. Special reward to those who lead people to Christ.

6. The judgment seat of Christ. (I Cor. 3:8-15)

Daniel’ Revelation

When we do anything motivated by the Love of God we will be rewarded by Lord according to Daniel 12:3 and I Cor. 3:8-15

What God Told Daniel in Chapter 12:

· The vision is for the future. The future is today.

· Worldwide travel and mass communication and education will be common.

· He sees two beings one on the side of the river and the other on the other side.

A Powerful Angel

· Lifts his hands toward heaven and heard him swear by Him who lives forever. It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.

· The events that the angel speaks about are for the Great tribulation or the last three and a half years of the tribulation.

The Last Words

The angel tells Daniel. 8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, My lord, what will the outcome of all this be? 9 He replied, Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. 11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days, 13 As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.

Signs that we are living in the last days:

· Many are being purified in the church. The church is getting ready for the coming of the bridegroom-Jesus to take her out of the world.

· The wicked will continue to be wicked, none of the wicked will understand but the wise will understand.

· The sacrificial system will soon be instituted in Israel so when it is look up the rapture is soon.

Daniel 12

The angel tells Daniel, to go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise (the resurrection) to receive your allotted inheritance.

Daniel’s Vision

He sees Michael the general of the armies of Heaven confirm and strengthen king Darius the Mede. Angels help those whom God has chosen to affect history in a positive way.

Darius had a part to play in Israel’s destiny and in the spiritual war that was taking place God sent the most powerful general and His army to defeat the forces of evil.

Daniel 11

Daniel - Talks about the war that is going on in the spirit world.

Ephesians 6 (NCV) Wear the Full Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His great power.11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil's evil tricks.12 Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world's darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world.

What We Can Learn From History:

When the Persians took control of the region where the Jews were in exile demonic forces started a campaign to exterminate the Jews so they tried to have Daniel killed by having him cast into the Lions’ den.

Believers Are To Take dominion in the spirit to effect what happens in our community. Let’s stop allowing evil to have its way in this city. Let’s serve an eviction notice to the devil in this area and take our place of authority so that revival can sweep through the place.

Daniel’ Example

· He was a Godly example to his generation.

· He was a man of prayer.

· He was a man of integrity.

· He was an example to all the people of his day.

· He was a man of great courage.

· He was a man of vision.

What God Told Daniel

· In chapter 10. You are loved very much. Stand up because I have been to you; Daniel stands up but still shaking. V. 11

· The angle says, don’t be afraid, when you decided to get understanding and to humble yourself before you God. V.12

· God heard and I have come because of your prayers. Angels come to us as a result of our prayers.

Pray

· In line with the revelation (understanding) God has given you not according to your emotions, thoughts or fears.

· Daniel 11 talks about the events that would happen in the Persian Empire, the Greek Empire, the aftermath of the Greek Empire in Egypt, Syria and the other nations in the region. Daniel 11 also talks about the revived Roman Empire and the anti-christ.

The Description of the Vision

· Daniel sees the rise and fall of Egypt, Syria and all the other nations that came out of the Greek Empire.

· Daniel sees events up to the coming of the revived Roman Empire during the end of the times of the Gentiles. We are living in those times.

People Are

· Hungry for God right now in the world. Muslim terrorists are having visions of Jesus and have been saved and are preaching the Gospel.

· Jews are finding their Messiah in Jesus Christ.

· New agers are discovering the Holy Spirit in the midst of their search for real meaning in life.

· In Africa Rienhard Bonnke has seen over 55 million people saved in the past decade.

· South Korean is still in revival, South America is seeing a great harvest, and Alabama is seeing revival.

Daniel 10

· Michael is the general of the warfare angels of the angels of God.

· In this war that Daniel was seeing unfold right before him the angels reveal that spiritual war is really what controls the physical war.

· We get to participate in this war through prayer and fasting like Daniel did.

The Message

· The Gospel is the power of God according to what Paul said.

· The Word of God increased and the disciples multiplied.

· What changes the world is the Gospel for when people, nations, etc. receive the message of Jesus they are changed and society is impacted.

Daniel’s Vision

The description of the angel:

1. His attire, linen clothes.

2. Belt of fine gold wrapped around his waist.

3. His body was like shiny yellow quartz.

4. His face was bright like lightning.

5. His eyes were like fire.

6. His arms and legs were shiny like polished bronze.

7. His voice sounded like the roar of a crowd.

Daniel 10

1. The vision was not seen by the men with Daniel but they felt the presence of the vision and ran off in fear.

2. Daniel lost his strength.

3. Daniel turned pale.

4. Daniel felt helpless.

5. Daniel fell down.

Daniel

Was overcome by the presence of God and falls down or is slain in the spirit. God is too awesome, too powerful, too overwhelming for people to stand in His presence. In every revival men and women are overcome by the presence and power of God and fall down, not as a ritual but as a spontaneous encounter with the Almighty.

What We Can Learn From History:

When people have had encounters with the presence of God they have literally been out of it for hours and sometimes days. Like on the Day of Pentecost, they thought they were drunk at 9:00 AM.

The Impact of Angels

Even in the presence of angles like Gabriel and Michael people have felt weak because they are the two most powerful angels of God. They are arch angels that are in charge of all the angels of God.

What Daniel Experienced:

· A hand touched him and set him on his hands and knees. Daniel was afraid and shaking.

· He is told that sometime ago Daniel decided to get understanding and to humble himself before God, God heard him and the angel was sent to Daniel because of his prayers.

What The Angel Told Daniel:

· You are loved very much. Stand up because I have been sent to you; Daniel stands up but still shaking. V. 11

· The angle says, don’t be afraid, when you decided to get understanding and to humble yourself before you God. V.12

· God heard and I have come because of your prayers. Angels come to us as a result of our prayers.

Daniel

· Is given one of the most powerful insights when it comes to spiritual warfare.

· The prince of Persia has been fighting against me for twenty one days. Then Michael, one of the most important angels, came to help me, for I remained there with the kings of Persia.

· Now I have come to make you understand what is to befall your people in the latter days. The vision is for the future.

The Words

· Of the angel are so full of power that Daniel turns his face toward the ground and was dumb. Then Daniel is touched on his lips and he is able to speak.

· The vision caused Daniel great anguish of soul and he had little strength.

· The powerful messenger of heaven touched Daniel and he strengthens the prophet.

· The angel tells Daniel why he came. Now he was going to return to fight with the hostile prince of Persia. Then the prince of Greece will come.

The Revelation

· Is that when there is a war on earth there is a war in the heavens or in the spirit realm.

· Go back to what Paul says in II Corinthians 10:3-4 Our warfare is not carried out with human weapons but with spiritual ones.

· We defeat evil with good. We overcome the enemy with the Word of God, the blood of Jesus, the power of the prophetic words we speak.

Daniel 9 - God’s Messengers

Principles of Daniel

1. Daniel was a man of influence

2. Daniel understood the culture of his day but was not changed by it.

3. Daniel communicated with God and God communicated with him.

4. Daniel shaped history because God spoke through him.

5. Daniel lived a lifestyle of prayer.

6. Daniel loved God.

7. Daniel was loyal and full of integrity,

Daniel 9

Dan. 9:1 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom Dan. 9:2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

The prophecy is found in Jeremiah 25;10-12

Daniel

Received revelation through visions and dreams and by the Word of God. This is something we have that Daniel didn’t have. He only had parts of the Old Testament we have the whole revelation of God in scripture. As far as the ability to receive revelation we have more potential than Daniel, all we need is the dedication that Daniel had.

I pray for dedicated people like Daniel to be raised up today.

What We Can Learn From History:

1. God makes the final decision on who will be the next kingdom, world ruler or nation.

2. Nations rise and fall but God’s kingdom will last forever.

3. Nations who turn to God will be protected by the hand of God while nations who don’t will suffer judgment.

4. No nation can depend on itself to become a world power, it must depend on God and when it does it will succeed.

5. God’s will will prevail, He even uses the adversary to do this.

6. History is His story, it is about Him. Man is under His authority and every nation will submit to Him.

What God Told Me

If we are never given powerful visions or dreams we have God’s Word. It is complete and inspired by the same Holy Spirit that gave Daniel the powerful prophetic visions and dreams. A great revival will sweep the earth before Jesus returns, but we must not stop teaching and preaching the Word of God.

When Jesus Was Tempted

· By the devil, Jesus only used the Word of God to fight off the attack.

· When we are attacked by the enemy, our best weapon to defeat him is the Word of God.

Daniel - Mentions other powerful tools in defeating our enemies.

1. Confession, when we confess our lack of revelation, might or ability and confess our great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with all who love Him and obey His commands. (v. 4)

2. Confession of our waywardness, sins, and wrongs and those of our leaders and confession of how merciful and forgiving our God is. (v. 5-11)

3. Confession of the righteousness and justice of our God and what happens when we don’t obey Him or follow the way of His blessings. (v. 11-16)

4. Confession of the sins of our fathers, our ancestors. Sometimes we find ourselves in a difficult situation spiritually because of someone else’s sin, we are bound because of a curse in our family tree. Someone was involved in witchcraft, rebellion, the occult, adultery, addiction etc. perversion, cheating others, etc. etc. and it has affected us today. As we confess those sins and repent of how that has affected us and we are doing some of the things they did, we are set free by the power of God. (v. 11-14 Duet. 28)

5. Confession of the great miracles and great deliverance God had performed for us. (v. 15-16)

6. A petition of asking God to turn away from His wrath for our sins is made by the prophet. (v.16)

7. Prayer for revival. One of the greatest prayers a man or woman can pray is for God to revive His work, His people, His church. Daniel prays for this. (v. 17-19)

Daniel 9

· God answers Daniel by sending Gabriel the mighty messenger from the throne of God at the time of the evening sacrifice.

· Dan. 9:23 As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the message and understand the vision.

The Message

1. Gabriel gives the prophet the answer. (v. 21)

2. God sends special messengers with special revelation from His heart to man’s heart. I have now come to give you insight and understanding. ( v. 22)

3. God answers as soon as we hit the mark. (v. 23)

The Interpretation

· Israel is the time piece of history.

· V. 24 talks about 70 weeks. We look at the history of the Jews to understand the timing of world history for God reveals the history of the world through the nation of Israel.

· Num. 14:34 1 day means 1 year. 490 years so the decree is 69 weeks to rebuild and restore Jerusalem until the time of the Messiah.

· The last week refers to the tribulation.

· Jesus died to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. (Dan. 9:24) Read Ezra 1:1-4

· The decree of Cyrus to allow the Jews to return to their land (Palestine-Jerusalem) was the divine answer to Daniel’s prayer. Just as Jeremiah predicted that they would return in 70 years to rebuild Jerusalem.

Application

· Jerusalem is rebuilt according to prophecy and Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey in 434 years. The Jewish calendar is 360 days a year, in 434 years Jesus rode into Jerusalem on April 6, 32 A.D.

· Daniel 9:26 says that Jesus would die on the exact date God gave Him.

Daniel 9:27

· Talks about what the antichrist will do. In the middle of the seven years (31/2 years) he will put an end of sacrifice and kill a pig on the altar in the temple.

· If you look at the ten toes of the vision in Dan. 2 it talks about the unification of Europe. Israel has to become a nation first. This has all happened. We are living very close to the end of the church age. Jesus is coming.

Daniel 8 - Angels & The Shaping of History

Daniel

Has another powerful vision. The first part of the vision is the Medo-Persian Empire. The kings of Medo-Persia wore helmets which looked like ram’s horns, instead of a crown, when they went into battle.

The Prophecy

Talks about the Medo-Persian kings going to war. The horn which grew up later as becoming longer than the first reveals that even though Media came to power first, Persia conquered Media thus uniting the Empire.
The Empire was located between Egypt and Asia. It expanded its empire by conquering Greece westward, Babylon northward, and Egypt southward.
This is found in Daniel 8:4. The Ram charging west, north and south is the Medo-Persian empire.

The Goat

Is the Empire of Greece. The horn in the middle of its forehead from the west is Alexander The Great who came from Macedonia. It being able to fly is how swift the Greek army was in battle. The goat charging the Ram is the war between Greece and the Medo-Persian Empire, after a number of battles the Greeks finally won in 331 B.C.

From Verses

8 through 12 the vision talks about the Goat swelling and becoming great. This is the great expansion of the Greek Empire. But at the height of its influence and power the horn broken off and four other horns sprout out of it. This is the death of Alexander the Great and how the empire was divided by his four generals.

Syria

Was taken by Seleucus, Egypt by Ptolemy emerged as major forces thus these two forces were constantly engaged in hostile actions.
Israel was between them geographically so when Egypt came up to fight, Israel was trampled underfoot. When Syria went down to fight Egypt Israel was stamped down. Under these circumstances, according to Daniel, a little horn came out of one of the horns. This is talking about the king of Syria named Antiochus Epiphanes, who was eight in the seleucus dynasty. (175-164 B.C.)

Antiochus

Antiochus rose to prominence among the four horns. He defeated Egypt, and on his way home he subdued Jerusalem. After Jerusalem surrendered he set himself up against God and cruelly trampled Israel under foot. The host in Daniel’s vision refers to the Jews whom this conqueror cast down in defeat. Antiochus murdered several of the political and religious leaders of Israel including the high priest. He set himself up to be as great as the prince, that is God. He forbade the daily sacrifice in the temple.
Desecrated the sanctuary with an altar offered to a Greek deity he worshipped. On it he sacrificed pig’s blood, an abomination to the Jews. He abolished the Mosaic Law and forbade circumcision and imposed a pagan lifestyle on them and anyone who refused to obey his laws was executed. These events parallel what will take place in the last days. The rise of the antichrist in the tribulation and his conquest and cruel treatment of Israel. History will repeat itself because God has decreed it and Daniel saw it.

The Persecution

Of the Jews began in 171 B.C. and continued until Antiochus finally died on an expedition to Media in 164 B.C.As soon as he died Israel was released from Syrian bondage. The temple was purged and the daily sacrifice restored. The number of days from Antiochus conquest of Israel to his death was exactly twenty three hundred, the number prophesied here.
This is where the law of double reference applies. So this is a double prophecy which was once fulfilled in history yet will be fulfilled again at the end of the age.

15 "While I, Daniel, was trying to make sense of what I was seeing, suddenly there was a humanlike figure standing before me. 16-17 "Then I heard a man's voice from over by the Ulai Canal calling out, 'Gabriel, tell this man what is going on. Explain the vision to him.' He came up to me, but when he got close I became terrified and fell facedown on the ground. 17-18 "He said, 'Understand that this vision has to do with the time of the end.' As soon as he spoke, I fainted, my face in the dirt. But he picked me up and put me on my feet. 19 "And then he continued, 'I want to tell you what is going to happen as the judgment days of wrath wind down, for there is going to be an end to all this. 20-22 "'The double-horned ram you saw stands for the two kings of the Medes and Persians. The billy goat stands for the kingdom of the Greeks. The huge horn on its forehead is the first Greek king. The four horns that sprouted after it was broken off are the four kings that come after him, but without his power. 23-26"'As their kingdoms cool down and rebellions heat up, A king will show up, hard-faced, a master trickster. His power will swell enormously. He'll talk big, high-handedly, Doing whatever he pleases, knocking off heroes and holy ones left and right. He'll plot and scheme to make crime flourish and oh, how it will flourish! He'll think he's invincible and get rid of anyone who gets in his way. But when he takes on the Prince of all princes, he'll be smashed to bits but not by human hands. This vision of the 2,300 sacrifices, evening and morning, is accurate but confidential. Keep it to yourself. It refers to the far future.' 27 "I, Daniel, walked around in a daze, unwell for days. Then I got a grip on myself and went back to work taking care of the king's affairs. But I continued to be upset by the vision. I couldn't make sense of it."

Principles of Daniel

Daniel was a man of influence.
Daniel understood the culture of his day but was not changed by it.
Daniel communicated with God and God communicated with him.
Daniel shaped history because God spoke through him.
Daniel lived a lifestyle of prayer.
Daniel loved God.
Daniel was loyal and full of integrity.

Daniel 7

Daniel has a dream during the reign of Belshazzar the last king of Babylon.
The four winds of heaven whipped up a great storm.
The sea is the Mediterranean. This sets the scene for a forecast of historic events that by God’s providence would unfold in the nations surrounding the Mediterranean.
The lion with wings of an eagle is the Babylonian Empire.
The lion with its wings torn off is symbolic of Nebuchadnezzar when he lost his mind.
The beast becoming a man is when the King is restored and he becomes more compassionate.
The bear lurching from side to side is the Medo Persian Empire with 3 ribs in his mouth.
The panther with four wings is the Grecian Empire & Alexander the Great.
The fourth animal is the Roman Empire that lasted from 400 B.C. to 410 A.D.

Daniel 7

The last beast that came out of the sea is also a type of a future kingdom with ten kings. The little horn is the antichrist. Three of the original horns were pulled out to make room for it. The human eyes in the little horn speaks of the humanistic spirit of the antichrist. The big mouth speaking arrogantly is the satanic deception that the antichrist uses to persuade the nations to believe lies.

What We Can Learn From History:

God makes the final decision on who will be the next kingdom, world ruler or nation.
Nations rise and fall but God’s kingdom will last forever.
Nations who turn to God will be protected by the hand of God.
America was founded like Israel as a nation dedicated to God to give His revelation to the world.
No nation can depend on itself to become a world power, it must depend on God and when it does it will succeed.
God’s will will prevail, He even uses the adversary to do this.
History is His story, it is about Him. Man is under His authority and every nation will submit to Him.

The Heavenly Court

9-10 "As I was watching all this, "Thrones were set in place and The Old One sat down. His robes were white as snow, his hair was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, its wheels blazing. A river of fire poured out of the throne. Thousands upon thousands served him, tens of thousands attended him. The courtroom was called to order, and the books were opened.

There is a court in heaven that makes decisions for whatever happens on earth, who will rise to world prominence and who will fall, what nation will rule over another and what nation will be defeated in war.

Daniel received the revelation that God is the judge of the court of the universe and when He makes a judgment on who will rule and who will be subjected to that rule. When the Lord decides His angels go into action and carry out the judgments of God. Once a nation runs it course and God’s will is performed God raises up another nation to do His will in that period of time.

Daniel

Sees Jesus arriving in a whirl of clouds.
13-14He was given power to rule, all the glory and royalty. Everyone--race, color, and creed--has to serve Him. His rule would be forever, never ending. His kingly rule would never be replaced.

Daniel Asked For Revelation

15-16 "But as for me, Daniel, I was disturbed. All these dream-visions had me agitated. So I went up to one of those standing by and asked him the meaning of all this. And he told me, interpreting the dream for me: 17-18 "'These four huge animals,' he said, 'mean that four kingdoms will appear on earth. But eventually the holy people of the High God will be given the kingdom and have it ever after yes, forever and ever.
19-22 "But I wanted to know more. I was curious about the fourth animal, the one so different from the others, the hideous monster with the iron teeth and the bronze claws, gulping down what it ripped to pieces and trampling the leftovers into the dirt. And I wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and the other horn that sprouted up while three of the original horns were removed.

The Message

This new horn had eyes and a big mouth and spoke arrogantly, dominating the other horns. I watched as this horn was making war on God's holy people and getting the best of them. But then The Old One intervened and decided things in favor of the people of the High God. In the end, God's holy people took over the kingdom.

Daniel 7

23-25 "The bystander continued, telling me this: 'The fourth animal is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from the first three kingdoms, a monster kingdom that will chew up everyone in sight and spit them out. The ten horns are ten kings, one after another, that will come from this kingdom. But then another king will arrive. He will be different from the earlier kings. He will begin by toppling three kings. Then he will blaspheme the High God, persecute the followers of the High God, and try to get rid of sacred worship and moral practice. God's holy people will be persecuted by him for a time, two times, half a time.

The Interpretation

26-27 "'But when the court comes to order, the horn will be stripped of its power and totally destroyed. Then the royal rule and the authority and the glory of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the people of the High God. Their royal rule will last forever. All other rulers will serve and obey them.'28 "And there it ended. I, Daniel, was in shock. I was like a man who had seen a ghost. But I kept it all to myself."

The Interpretation

Jesus said it was the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom.
Jesus taught on the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus said He would give us the secrets to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus is the King and we are joint heirs with Him.

Application

God is our King, we will reign with Him forever and ever.
Our reign starts when we are born into His Kingdom.
We must learn the Kingdom principles to live a life of Kingdom significance.

Belshazzar is the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar and it is now 25 years since the last episode was written.

A Wine Tasting Event

Turns into a divine proclamation of judgment over a powerful Empire.
It was the wrong thing to do with the gold and silver vessels from the temple of God in Jerusalem.
It was an “in your face” gesture by the king of Babylon.

Daniel 5

Daniel 5

The queen knew about Daniel and talks about the anointing that was on Daniel to see into the spirit realm and give revelation to kings.
Daniel had an excellent spirit, knowledge and understanding dreams and shewing of hard sentences and dissolving of doubts. Call Him and he will give the interpretation.
Daniel stands before the king.

Daniel was known as a man of great wisdom and insight with God given ability to solve problems of his day.

Again We Find

That the wise men, astrologers could not interpret the hand writing on the wall.
The reputation of Daniel who could interpret dreams, and dissolve doubts.
Daniel does not receive the gifts and honor of the king--keep your gifts to yourself and give your rewards to another.
Daniel gives the king the testimony of his grandfather.

Daniel Tells The King

You used the sacred chalices to toast your gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone; blind, deaf, and imbecile gods. But you treat with contempt the living God who holds your entire life from birth to death in His hand.

The Message

25 And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. 26 This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. 27 TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. 28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

Daniel Is Given

Another award and position. Third in the kingdom. But Daniel knows that this means nothing because that night God’s sentence is carried out and the king is killed and Darius (of the Medo Persian Empire) becomes king at 62 years of age.

What Can We Learn From These Events?

God is the one who controls the world. He knows everything even before it happens.
God is a jealous God and will not be mocked.
God exalts those who humble themselves before God humbles those who exalt themselves.
God is just and His judgments are right and when He makes a decision it is always the best one, the right one and the just one.

Daniel - The King Who Lost His Mind

This Is The Personal testimony of the king of Babylon and how God completely destroyed his mind, restored his mind and saved his kingdom.

His Letter sounds like one of the letters in the New Testament from one of the apostles of the church of Jesus Christ.

Daniel 4:1-7

1 NEBUCHADNEZZAR THE king, to all people, nations, and languages that dwell on all the earth: May peace be multiplied to you! 2 It seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed toward me. 3 How great are His signs! And how mighty His wonders! His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom, and His dominion is from generation to generation. 4 I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at rest in my house and prospering in my palace. 5 I had a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts and imaginations and the visions of my head as I was lying upon my bed troubled and agitated me. 6 Therefore I made a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known to me the interpretation of the dream. 7 Then the magicians, the enchanters, the Chaldeans, and the astrologers came in, and I told them the dream, but they could not make known to me the interpretation of it.

Dreams

In the ancient world had great significance especially to the rulers of the nations. Example of Joseph in Egypt and Daniel in Babylon.
When the king had the dream it had great meaning but because God was speaking it troubled him even more.
Are still a means of divine communication today.

Daniel 4

The king acknowledges the power of the Holy Spirit upon Daniel in giving him the ability to know and interpret dreams.
Daniel listens to the dream. A great tree in the midst of the earth.

Daniel 4:8-10

8 But at last Daniel came in before me--he who was named Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God - and I told the dream before him, saying, 9 O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God is in you and no secret mystery is a burden or troubles you, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen and the interpretation of it. 10 The visions of my head [as I lay] on my bed were these: I saw, and behold, [there was] a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great.

How Daniel Impacted The Nations He Was A Part Of:

He never compromised with evil.
He was a man who believed God.
He was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in.
He was a man of intense prayer.

Daniel 4:11-12

11 The tree grew and was strong and its height reached to the heavens, and the sight of it reached to the end of the whole earth. 12 Its leaves were fair and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. The living creatures of the field found shade under it, and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches; and all flesh was fed from it.

Daniel gives the meaning. This vast tree with great influence, great prosperity but also where the birds of air dwell in its branches is a type of the occultic (demonic teachings and influence through the religious system of Babylon).

Daniel 4:13

13 I saw in the visions of my head [as I lay] on my bed, and behold, a watcher, a holy one, came down from Heaven. Daniel sees a watcher, could have been an angel who watches over the affairs of the kingdoms of the earth.

Daniel 4

Daniel sees a stump with deep roots. This shows the tree would be cut down (the king) would loose his mind, but not loose his kingdom.

15 Nevertheless leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, in the midst of the tender grass of the field. Let him be wet with the dew of the heavens, and let him share the lot of the living creatures in the grass of the earth.

16 Let his nature and understanding be changed from a man's and let a beast's nature and understanding be given him, and let seven times [or years] pass over him.

Daniel sees that the king’s total transformation from a great leader to an insane, almost animalistic creature. A court session is held by the Heavenly Sanhedrin that the world may know the Most High rules over the kingdom of mankind and can give power to the lowliest of men if God chooses.

The Interpretation (Daniel 4)

20 The tree that you saw, which grew [great] and was strong, whose height reached to the heavens and which was visible to all the earth, 21 Whose foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, on which was food for all, under which the living creatures of the field dwelt, and on whose branches the birds of the sky had their nests -- 22 It is you, O king, who have grown and become strong; your greatness has increased and it reaches to the heavens, and your dominion to the ends of the earth.

Daniel sees the tree as being the king and his great empire.

23 And whereas the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven and saying, Cut the tree down and destroy it, but leave the stump of its roots in the earth with a band of iron and bronze around it, in the tender grass of the field; and let him be wet with the dew of the heavens, and let his portion be with the living creatures of the field until seven times [or years] pass over him--

Daniel sees a holy one come down from Heaven and say to cut the tree down but leave a stump with roots.

24 This is the interpretation, O king: It is the decree of the Most High [God] which has come upon my lord the king:

The Meaning

Daniel sees the tree as being the king and his great empire.
Daniel sees a holy one come down from heaven and say to cut the tree down but leave a stump with roots.
Daniel gives the revelation that God is the one who makes decrees and has the final say about the reign of any king, any man over any kingdom.
Daniel gives the interpretation that the king would be driven from among men and will live as a homeless person for seven years until he recognizes the Most High God rules the kingdom of mankind and gives it to whomever He will.
Daniel (God speaking through the prophet) gives the king a way out of what will happen. Break off your sins and show the reality of your repentance by righteousness and liberate yourself from your iniquities by showing mercy and kindness to the poor and oppressed and your error will be covered by God’s mercy & forgiveness.

Application

Daniel and the king wait a whole year before he sees the fulfillment of the dream or the pronouncement of the verdict.
Daniel gives seven years of the torment of the king in one verse v. 33.

God’s Mercy

Daniel says what happens when the seven years of insanity is up for the king. He lifts his eyes to Heaven and God returns his understanding and the right use of his mind. The king blessed the Most High God and praised and honored and glorified Him who lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His Kingdom endures from generation to generation. What revelation God gives the king! God completely restores the king, his mind, his kingdom, his honor but with still more greatness than before.

Courageous Dads - Joshua 1:6-9

Courageous

Means, not deterred by danger or pain, brave.
God told Joshua after having to take the place of probably one of the greatest leaders in history. Moses, the man who stood up to Pharaoh with great signs and wonders and miracles. The one who saw the glory of God and who was given the 10 commandments and the blue prints to the tabernacle, who wrote the first five books of the Bible.

What God Told Joshua:

Joshua 1:6 Be strong (confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success. 9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Courage Demonstrated

The greatest person who can change society is a Godly Father.
Godly dads protect, serve and teach their children the Word of God.
Godly dads love their wives, are faithful to them, honor them and are willing to lay down their lives for them as Christ did for us.

Courageous Dads

Bless their children and teach them to love God with all their hearts, mind and strength.
Train their children to honor authority and live responsibly.
Confront evil, pursue justice and love mercy.
Pray for others, and treat them with kindness, respect and compassion.
Work diligently to provide for the needs of their families.
Forgive those who have wronged them, and reconcile with those they have (I) have wronged.
Learn from their mistakes, repent of sin, and walk with integrity as a man answerable to God.
Seek to honor God, to be faithful to their church, obey God’s Word and do His will.
Courageously work with the strength God provides fulfill these promises.
Remember what Joshua said. “…But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Fight for their families. We are called to war as men of God. We fight against evil, corruption, perversion, drunkenness, dishonesty, unfaithfulness and compromise.
Are called to victory because Jesus was victorious over evil.

When God

Repeats something three times to someone it is significant. God told Joshua three times to be courageous.
God tells us (men) to be courageous as leaders of our homes.

God Tells Us

To be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power in Ephesians 6
In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Ephesians 6:10

Application

Ephesians 6:11 Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

It starts with fathers being faithful to their wives, connected with their children, involved with their families

What is the Answer?

Courageous Fathers.

Who protect, serve their families as they teach them the Word of God.
Who are faithful to their wives, who love and honor them.
Who bless their children & teach them to love God.
Who train their children to honor authority & live responsibly.
Who confront evil, pursue justice and love mercy.
Who pray for others as they treat them right.
Who work diligently to provide for their families.
Who are forgiving.
Who learn from their mistakes.
Who honor God, go to church and obey the Word.

God is Looking

Daniel saw the deterioration of human civilization. Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom was gold while the succeeding kingdoms were increasingly inferior. Silver, brass, iron and finally clay. The world will become

For courageous men who are willing to stand in the gap for their families, walk in integrity, have pure hearts, obey the Word of God on a daily basis, raise their children to love God, love their wife as Jesus loved the church and who will not compromise with the world.

Sets up a 90 foot tall image in the province of Babylon. He orders all important leaders in the province, everybody who was anybody, to the dedication ceremony of the statue. When the band strikes it up - fall to your knees and worship the gold statue
Whoever does not will be cast into the furnace.

Not Everyone

Obeyed the king’s order. Three young men. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not obey. They stood when everyone else bowed down to the statue.
They stood strong in faith.

Courage Demonstrated

Daniel 3:16-18 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, "Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if He doesn't, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn't serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up."

Revelation

Trials come and go but people who stand in the midst of trial are the ones who will shine in the darkness.

Trial Lessons

Trials come to those who believe in Jesus.
Trials will either make us bitter or better.
Trials can be the best thing that ever happened to us or the worst.
Trials are for purification.
Trials can be part of our transformation.

James 1

Profiting from Trials

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

2 My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, 3 for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. 4 Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

2-4 Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.

Tests will come.

Don’t give in to the temptation to bolt but stand like the three did.

Daniel 3:24-28

24 Suddenly King Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in alarm and said, "Didn't we throw three men, bound hand and foot, into the fire?" "That's right, O king," they said. 25 "But look!" he said. "I see four men, walking around freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the fourth man looks like a son of the gods!" 26 Nebuchadnezzar went to the door of the roaring furnace and called in, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the High God, come out here!" Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked out of the fire. 27 All the important people, the government leaders and king's counselors, gathered around to examine them and discovered that the fire hadn't so much as touched the three men not a hair singed, not a scorch mark on their clothes, not even the smell of fire on them!

28 Nebuchadnezzar said, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel and rescued his servants who trusted in him! They ignored the king's orders and laid their bodies on the line rather than serve or worship any god but their own.

Daniel 3:29

Daniel saw the deterioration of human civilization. Nebs kingdom was gold while the succeeding kingdoms were increasingly inferior. Silver, brass, iron and finally clay. The world will become

29 "Therefore I issue this decree: Anyone anywhere, of any race, color, or creed, who says anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be ripped to pieces, limb from limb, and their houses torn down. There has never been a god who can pull off a rescue like this."

God honors those who stand in the midst of a test of their faith with promotion.

Let’s Learn

From this ancient event in the history of Israel and learn that trials of fire are designed to bring us to a place of total dependence on God.

Fire burns off impurities.
Fire changes the nature of the element that is burned.
Fire transforms.

Daniel - Dreams That Shape History

The Life of Daniel

Is one of the greatest examples of a man who shaped history by his prayer and by visions and dreams!

Daniel Impacted

His generation by living a dedicated life to God and to the purpose God had for him.

Daniel 2:1-3

1 IN THE second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams by which his spirit was troubled and agitated and his sleep went from him. 2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, the enchanters or soothsayers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans [diviners], to tell the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. 3 And the king said to them, I had a dream and my spirit is troubled to know the dream. 4 Then said the Chaldeans [diviners] to the king in Aramaic [the Syrian language], O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. 5 The king answered the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me! And the decree goes forth from me and I say it with all emphasis: if you do not make known to me the dream with its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces and your houses shall be made a dunghill!

Daniel

Is known as one of the most accurate prophets in history. He saw the rise and fall of some of the major civilizations in history.
Was the advisor to many rulers; Nabopolassar, Nebuchadnezzar, Amelmarduk, Neriglissar, Labishimarduk, Nabonidas and after the defeat of Babylon, he served Darius the Mede and Cyrus in the Persian court. 8 rulers total.

Dreams

In the ancient world had great significance especially to the rulers of the nations. Example of Joseph in Egypt and Daniel in Babylon.
When the king has the dream it had great meaning but because God was speaking it troubled him even more.
Are still a means of Divine communication today.

Daniel 2:6-7

6 But if you show the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So show me the dream and the interpretation of it. 7 They answered again, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it. 8 The king answered, I know with certainty that you are trying to gain time, because you see the thing is gone from me and because you see that my word [against you] is sure 9 If you will not make known to me the dream, there is but one sentence for you; for you have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me [hoping to delay your execution] until the time is changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I will know that you can tell me the interpretation of it.10 The Chaldeans [diviners] answered before the king and said, There is not a man on earth who can show the king this matter, for no king, lord, or ruler has [ever] asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or Chaldean.11 A rare and weighty thing indeed the king requires! None except the gods can reveal it to the king, and their dwelling is not with [human] flesh.

How Daniel Impacted The Nations He Was A Part Of:

He never compromised with evil.
He was a man who believed God.
He was not afraid to stand up for what he believed in.
He was a man of intense prayer.

God Can

Give us the information on how to do our job. This is where we find the spirit of wisdom and revelation in operation.
Revelation is the divine information and wisdom is the ability to apply the knowledge God gives us.
The anointing is God’s ability given to people but revelation is God’s insight needed to do our job.

Daniel 2:16:19

16 And Daniel went in and desired of the king that he would set a date and give him time, and he would show the king the interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 So that they would desire and request mercy of the God of heaven concerning this secret, that Daniel and his companions should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

How Do I Know Daniel Was A Man Of Prayer?

Because of the acts of Daniel.
By the revelations God gave Daniel.
By the ability Daniel had to interpret dreams.
By the life Daniel lived.
By the way Daniel is still impacting lives today.

In Daniel 2

We find the king had a dream and could not find anyone who could tell him the dream or the interpretation of it.
Daniel & his friends were students of Babylonian culture but they never lost their love for God and their culture.
In Daniel 2:18 Daniel & his friends go to God in prayer for understanding and God answers.

Daniel 2:20-49

20 Daniel answered, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever! For wisdom and might are His! 21 He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding! 22 He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him! 23 I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers, Who has given me wisdom and might and has made known to me now what we desired of You, for You have made known to us the solution to the king's problem. 24 Therefore Daniel went to Arioch, whom the king had appointed to destroy the wise men of Babylon; he went and said thus to him: Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon! Bring me in before the king, and I will show to the king the interpretation. 25 Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste and said thus to him: I have found a man of the captives of Judah who will make known to the king the interpretation [of his dream]. 26 The king said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen and the interpretation of it?

27 Daniel answered the king, The [mysterious] secret which the king has demanded neither the wise men, enchanters, magicians, nor astrologers can show the king, 28 But there is a God in heaven Who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what it is that shall be in the latter days (at the end of days). Your dream and the visions in your head upon your bed are. 29 As for you, O king, as you were lying upon your bed thoughts came into your mind about what should come to pass hereafter, and He Who reveals secrets was making known to you what shall come to pass. 30 But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than anyone else living, butt in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king and that you may know the thoughts of your heart and mind. 31 You, O king, saw, and behold, [there was] a great image. This image which was mighty and of exceedingly great brightness stood before you, and the appearance of it was frightening and terrible. 32 As for this image, its head was of fine gold, its breast and its arms of silver, its belly and its thighs of bronze, 33 Its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay [the baked clay of the potter]. 34 As you looked, a Stone was cut out without human hands, which smote the image on its feet of iron and [baked] clay [of the potter] and broke them to pieces.) 35 Then the iron, the [baked] clay [of the potter], the bronze, the silver, and the gold were broken and crushed together and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors, and the wind carried them away so that not a trace of them could be found. And the Stone that smote the image became a great mountain or rock and filled the whole earth. 36 This was the dream, and we will tell the interpretation of it to the king. 37 You, O king, are king of the [earthly] kings to whom the God of heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the might, and the glory. 38 And wherever the children of men dwell, and the beasts of the field, and the birds of the heavens--He has given them into your hand and has made you to rule over them all. You [king of Babylon] are the head of gold. 39 And after you shall arise another kingdom [the Medo-Persian], inferior to you, and still a third kingdom of bronze [Greece under Alexander the Great] which shall bear rule over all the earth. 40 And the fourth kingdom [Rome] shall be strong as iron, since iron breaks to pieces and subdues all things; and like iron which crushes, it shall break and crush all these. 41 And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of [baked] clay [of the potter] and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom; but there shall be in it some of the firmness and strength of iron, just as you saw the iron mixed with miry [earthen] clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of [baked] clay [of the potter], so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle and broken. 43 And as you saw the iron mixed with miry and earthen clay, so they shall mingle themselves in the seed of men [in marriage bonds]; but they will not hold together [for two such elements or ideologies can never harmonize], even as iron does not mingle itself with clay. 44 And in the days of these [final ten] kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break and crush and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand forever. 45 Just as you saw that the Stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter. The dream is certain and the interpretation of it is sure. 46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and paid homage to Daniel [as a great prophet of the highest God] and ordered that an offering and incense should be offered up to him [in honor of his God].

47The king answered Daniel, Of a truth your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a Revealer of secret mysteries, seeing that you could reveal this secret mystery! 48Then the king made Daniel great and gave him many great gifts, and he made him to rule over the whole province of Babylon and to be chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon. 49And Daniel requested of the king and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained in the gate of the king [at the king's court].

The Meaning

This is one the most powerful dreams ever recorded. It lays the ground work for civilizations even until the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Kingdom.
