A Move Of God - A New Awakening 2 (notes)

A Move Of God - A New Awakening 2

What We Need

  • As a nation is a new awakening.
  • America was birth in revival!
  • America needs another awakening!

The First Great Awakening happened on the Day of Pentecost in the first century and the last awakening will take place at the end of the church age.

Everyone Will be touched by the Spirit of God in the end times (the last move of God) according to Joel 2:28.

Today We Will Look At a period in time when Israel returned from exile after 70 years in another country.

The Nation of Israel Is a case study in revival.

  • How God blesses His people.
  • His people turn away from God.
  • God has to turn away from His people.
  • His people repent.
  • God forgives, restores & blesses His people.

Zechariah

  • Was a prophet during the time of the rebuilding of the temple.
  • The angel of the Lord (Jesus) speaks out for Israel.

Zech. 1:12

What God Says

  • Return to Me declares the Lord Almighty, and I will return to you.
  • Don’t be like your forefathers.

Principles

  • God gives every generation an opportunity to turn to Him even if the past generation turned away from God.
  • God is merciful and will forgive if we repent.
  • Before every move of God we need mass repentance in the church.

For 70 Years

God was angry but God spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with the prophet.

God is jealous for Jerusalem and Zion… God loves His people.

God gets angry with those who hurt His people.

God Loves America

This nation was birthed in revival.

This nation was established to preach the Good News to the world. (We still send 46,000 missionaries every year to do this).

God is not finished with this nation.

Angels Have had a part in every move of God. (Gen. 19:15, 28:12, 32:1, Job 1:6)

The Next Great Awakening is going to show the world how great and merciful God is.

  1. A mighty display of God’s glory.
  2. The greatest harvest in history.
  3. Society will come to us for answers.
  4. Great miracles.
  5. Angelic visitations.
  6. Transformed communities.
  7. The course of nations altered.
  8. Rapid growth of churches.

It’s Time To Pray:

  1. Lord send revival.
  2. Lord let me be ready to receive revival.
  3. Lord let me go and tell others about it.
  4. Lord use me in this revival.

God Will Send the Holy Spirit soon.

Are You Ready for what God is going to do here and in this city and in our nation?

A Move Of God - A New Awakening (notes)

A Move Of God - A New Awakening

God Is Doing Something in the earth today that is bigger than any one ministry, one personality, one religious organization or Christian denomination.

God Promised To empower His church for the purpose of winning the world for Jesus Christ.

Acts 1:8

Lets Look At The First Great Awakening.

It led to changes in American colonial society.

1st Great Awakening

In New England, it was influential among many Congregationalists.

In the Middle and Southern colonies, especially in the “Backcountry” regions, the Awakening was influential among the Presbyterians.

In The Southern Tidewater

And Low Country, northern Baptist and Methodist preachers converted both whites and blacks, enslaved the free. The Baptists especially welcomed blacks into important roles such as preachers.

Before The American Revolution the first black Baptist churches were founded in the South in Virginia, two black Baptist churches were founded before any white one.

The Main Thrust of the First Great Awakening was in New England. George Whitefield traveled through the colonies in 1739 and 1740. Everywhere he attracted large and emotional crowds with man conversions to Jesus Christ.

An Other Great Spokesman of that move of God was Jonathan Edwards whose famous servant “Sinners In The Hands of An Angry God” sparked others to imitate his style spreading revival fires from New England to Georgia, among rich and poor, educated and illiterate, and in the back country as well as in seaboard towns and cities.

Benjamin Franklin Became an enthusiastic supporter of George Whitefield, the most popular roving preacher of the movement.

Ben printed Whitefield’s sermons and journals. Half of Franklin’s publications in 1739-41 were of Whitefield.

God Sent A mighty demonstration of His Glory right before America was founded as a free country.

What can we learn about this?

  1. Revival impacted a young nation.
  2. Revival impacted some of the influential people at the time.
  3. Revival happened when American was being formed as a nation.

Acts 2

Gives us the model for revival.

  1. The Holy Spirit is poured out.
  2. The church gets fired up--tongues and fire.
  3. The believers devoted themselves to the word of the apostles, to fellowship, sharing meals (including the Lord’s Supper) and to prayer.
  4. People were amazed with the miracles.
  5. The Christians shared everything with each other.
  6. Daily they were in the House of God.
  7. Daily they fellowshipped.
  8. Daily God added to their number.

What Can We Expect?

  1. God to move here
  2. God to move in America again
  3. God to shake the world.

A Move Of God - Rebuilding Zion (notes)

A Move Of God - Rebuilding Zion

Throughout history we have seen great moves of the Spirit of God. Some impacted nations, others large cities and small villages but they were all legitimate moves of God.

God’ New Move is bigger than anyone, any one church, any one denomination or organization of Christian Television network.

God Has Promised To Restore His Church

Acts 3:17-30 talks about the process to restoration.

The Process To Restoration

  • Repentance means to change our mind and purpose, turn around and return to God. A new mind set, new attitude and view.

Repentance Leads to refreshing (revival) of recovering from the effects of heat of reviving with fresh air may come from the presence of the Lord.

Ezra

  • Talks about the rebuilding of the temple in Zion after 70 years of exile and captivity in another country.
  • The exiled Jews returned to Jerusalem to rebuild it and its temple.

Nehemiah

  • Talks about rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem while Ezra talks about the rebuilding of the temple.

Ezra 3

  • Gives us a very clear picture of how the people responded to the rebuilding process.
  • Verse 10 says the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord.

If We Are Going to rebuild Zion (a place where God’s presence can dwell) we must first lay a solid foundation.

  • The teaching of the Word of God.

a. The foundation of worship

b. The foundation of praise

It’s All About Intimacy with God.

Worship is about intimacy with our Creator.

Jesus is coming for a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.

(Eph. 5:25-30)

Praise & worship lays a solid foundation for His presence to come and stay with us.

King David

  • Instituted a 24/7 worship system in Jerusalem, and the temple was not even built in his life time.
  • We must worship all the time if we are going to build a place where Jesus can live with us.

Where Does True Worship Start?

  • With praise and thanksgiving. What is praise? Words that express great approval or admiration.
  • I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart; I will enter His courts with praise.
  • Worship is when we enter the Holy place of intimacy with God.

Worship Says

  • I love You God and I know You have all the power to do anything. Miracles happen in the presence of Jehovah.

The Priests

  • Put their garments on. We are a kingdom of priests and to build a place for God to dwell we must put our garments of praise on.
  • Took their trumpets and played. We must use our mouths to praise Him.

The Levites Took the cymbals and took their place to praise the Lord as prescribed by David king of Israel. We must have the right attitude when we come into God’s presence.

With Praise & Thanksgiving They sang to the Lord: He is good; His love to Israel endures forever. God is good and His love to us is forever.

  • Paul talked about how deep, wide, high and powerful the love of God is. God is love and we need His Spirit to grasp it.

All The People

  • Gave a great shout of praise to the Lord when the foundation of the temple was finished. But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the older temple, wept aloud, while many others (younger ones) shouted for joy.
  • We can’t live in the past but in the now and future of what God will do.

Let’s Lay A solid foundation to build a place here where God’s presence will not depart.
